Sean Ryan’s

The reel many players know as "Sean Ryan's" was not written by a Seán Ryan at all. It is "The Aughacashel," composed by the Armagh fiddler and pianist Josephine Keegan (b. 1935, of Mullaghbawn in south Co. Armagh) and named for Aughacashel, outside Drumshanbo in Co. Leitrim, in remembrance of music she heard played there. Keegan printed it in her collection The Keegan Tunes (2002). It also circulates under the title "Kevin Crawford's."
