Designed for both session players and pianists coming from outside the tradition, the course focuses on the core skills needed to accompany Irish tunes confidently and musically. Rather than treating accompaniment as memorized chord charts, the teaching emphasizes listening, ear training, tune structure, and learning to recognize harmonic movement in real time.

Organized across five sections and twenty-six video lessons, the course covers identifying tune types by ear, basic music theory, chord relationships, and the harmonic forms commonly found in Irish traditional music.

From there, lessons move into accompaniment itself: rhythmic backing patterns for reels and jigs, voice leading, melodic analysis, pedaling, walkups, upper chord extensions, and approaches to supporting tunes in live session settings. Complete accompaniment demonstrations are included for tunes such as The Belles of Tipperary, Dunmore Lasses, The Kesh Jig, Sliabh Russell, and Garrett Barry's.
