About this tune
Now widely known as "The Rolling Waves," this jig is the older "Humours of Trim" — the title under which O'Neill printed it — and a version also turns up untitled in George Petrie's collection, so the tune is well over a century old. Two different jigs go by "Rolling Wave(s)": this is the Humours of Trim one, not the tune Kevin Burke recorded, sometimes called "Bill the Weaver." It's most often heard as a jig in D.
