About this tune

A rare modern jig with a named author: West Clare fiddler Junior Crehan (1908–1998) made it from the Scottish Gaelic song "Chì Mi na Mòrbheanna" ("The Mist Covered Mountains of Home"), turning the slow air into a jig in A Dorian. Caoimhín Mac Aoidh reads the mist-covered mountain of the title as Slieve Callan in Clare. Charlie Piggott picked the jig up from the Doolin whistle-and-flute player Micho Russell, and De Dannan recorded it on the album that took its name.
