About this tune

This reel survives in the manuscripts of Stephen Grier (c.1824–1894), an uilleann piper and fiddle player from north Longford who settled in south Leitrim in 1852 and, mainly through the 1880s, wrote down more than a thousand tunes from the district. The McNamara family drew on that collection for their 1998 album Leitrim's Hidden Treasure, where it runs in a set of Grier reels alongside Miss Simple's, Bring Her to the Shelter, and Miss Gunning's.
