About this tune
Despite the title, the reel's likeliest namesake is the Galway flute player Tom Morrison (1889–1958), from Whitepark near Glennamaddy, who billed himself "The Dunmore Flash" after the nearby town. Morrison recorded it in New York in September 1927, on Columbia with John Reynolds, in a medley with the Manchester Reel and the Castlebar Traveller; from that disc the reel still answers to "Morrison's." Its two parts run close to "My Love Is in America," nearly a mirror of one another, a kinship players have long noted.
