Concert Reel

Two different reels answer to these names, which is why "Callaghan's" and "Denis Murphy's" cling to a tune that is properly neither. The reel taught here is the A-Dorian "Concert," a widely recorded session reel separate from the Sliabh Luachra "Callaghan's Reel" — the Kerry tune of fiddler Cal Callaghan, a fiddler and farmer of Doon, Co. Kerry, also called "Now She's Purring" or, in Irish, "Ríl Uí Cheallacháin." The titles overlap across the two reels, and the Concert still often turns up under the Kerry tune's names.
