About this tune
The slow air "Dobbin's Flowery Vale" is a separate tune from this reel — one of the best-known pieces of Robert Cinnamond (1884–1968), a traditional singer from County Antrim. Frankie Kennedy, whose uncle had married Cinnamond's daughter, learned the air from the family's singing and recorded it on Altan's Harvest Storm, the slow air running straight into this reel. As a tune in its own right the reel goes under other titles — The Drogheda Lasses, Eddie Moloney's Favourite, Paddy Doorhy's — and the Traditional Tune Archive catalogues it and the air as two separate tunes.
