Boil the Breakfast Early

The title is best known from the Chieftains, who named their ninth album for this G-major reel in 1979 and opened the record with it. The tune itself is older: it was noted from the collector P.W. Joyce and printed in the Stanford/Petrie Complete Collection of Irish Music in 1905, then in O'Neill's Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems in 1907. It also travels under other titles, among them "Court Her Along the Road" and "The Lasses' Fashion."
