About this tune

Micho Russell, the Doolin whistle player, heard this jig as programme music: it pictures the battering ram the English used to evict poor tenants in nineteenth-century Ireland. The tune runs to three parts. The West Clare concertina player Elizabeth Crotty recorded it, as later did Danú and Kevin Crawford, among many others.
