About this tune
On the Bothy Band's 1975 debut this reel was titled "The Navvy on the Line," and many players know it by that name — but that title properly belongs to a separate tune, a James Hill hornpipe. The reel is more correctly "The Navvy on the Shore," and it also carries the Irish title Péarla na gCluainte and the name "The Pride of Cloontia." Peter Horan and Fred Finn recorded it on "Music of Sligo," and Catherine McEvoy and the Coleman Country Céilí Band are among others who have put it on record.
