About this tune
Behind the plain English title sits the Irish "Na Bruacha Caonaigh," the mossy banks. Breathnach printed the reel in Ceol Rince na hÉireann vol. II (1976) from the Co. Tyrone fiddler John Loughram, though the three-part setting heard at sessions today owes its currency to Fermanagh fiddler Séan Nugent of the Pride of Erin Céilí Band. It answers to several names — John Carty's, The Lads from Leitrim, Tommy Gunn's — and Kevin Crawford recorded it as "John Carty's" on In Good Company.
