About this tune
"Farewell to Glasgow" is Scottish rather than Irish — a Gaelic song, "Fàgail Ghlaschu" ("Leaving Glasgow"), composed by the bard Roderick (Ròidseag) Campbell. It's a waltz, sitting in 3/4 rather than the time of a dance tune. Seamus Egan recorded it on "When Juniper Sleeps," and the Boys of the Lough cut a live version on "Live at Carnegie Hall."
