About this tune
Frequently recorded in the 1920s, this reel was cut in 1922 by the piper Tom Ennis and fiddler James Morrison for Columbia, in a medley with the Templehouse Reel and the Pigeon on the Gate. Francis O'Neill printed it that same year in Waifs and Strays of Gaelic Melody, and in 1926 Frank Quinn recorded it as "Eddie Dunne's Favourite," after a New York melodeon player of that name. The title is shared with a separate, unrelated reel in G, so it won't tell you which tune is meant — the one taught here is the A-Dorian reel. Kevin Crawford recorded it on In Good Company.
