About this tune

Francis O'Neill printed this jig in "The Dance Music of Ireland: 1001 Gems" (1907), and much of its recorded life since has run through Kerry musicians — the Sliabh Luachra accordionist Johnny O'Leary cut a version, as did the West Kerry brothers Brendan and Séamus Begley. It also travels under more than one name: the Irish "Pórt Phádraig Uí Chaoimh," and "Brian O'Lynn," a title shared with a separate, well-known jig, so the two are easily confused.
